Art Archive Software for Artists, Collectors & Galleries

An art archive is not a folder of photographs. It is the record that proves what a work is, where it has been, who owned it, what it was worth and when. Aurelian is art archive software built for that job: every artwork carries its images, measurements, medium, edition, provenance chain, exhibition history and valuation timeline in a single searchable record you can export at any time.

What it does

One record per work, not one folder per work

Images, dimensions, medium, year, edition, condition notes and documents attach to the artwork itself. Search by any field and the whole dossier comes back together.

Provenance as a chain, not a paragraph

Each ownership, sale, loan and publication is a dated entry with a source. The chain reads as a timeline and exports as a provenance dossier.

Exhibition and publication history

Every show, fair, catalogue and press mention logged against the work. Artist CVs and catalogue entries assemble from the archive instead of from memory.

Valuation history with sources

Appraisals, auction comparables and insurance figures recorded with date and origin, so the current number always has a defensible story behind it.

Your archive stays yours

Full structured export to CSV and JSON with images at any time. An archive you cannot take with you is not an archive.

Who uses this

Artist archiving twenty years of output

Retro-catalogue older work in batches, record where each piece went, and generate an exhibition list without reconstructing it from old emails.

Collector building an insurable record

Photograph, measure and value each work once, then export an appraised schedule for the insurer whenever the policy renews.

Gallery archiving a represented estate

Consolidate the estate's inventory, provenance documents and exhibition record into one archive that survives staff turnover.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How is art archive software different from a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet holds one row per work and loses the images, documents and event history. An archive keeps the images, provenance events, exhibitions, valuations and documents attached to the record — and lets you search across all of them at once.

Can I import an existing archive?

Yes. CSV import covers artworks, contacts and editions. Images and documents are uploaded during setup, and assisted migration is available on annual paid plans.

Is there a free way to start archiving?

Yes. The free tier covers a solo artist or collector building their first archive. Paid plans add staff seats, deeper reporting and onboarding help.

Can I export everything later?

Yes. Structured CSV and JSON export including images is available at any time, on every plan.
