Pick by scenario

Which one is right for you?

If you are…

Solo artist cataloguing personal work

Purpose-built for individual artists; the cheapest solo tier on the market and a clean personal-portfolio public page.

Recommended: Artwork Archive

If you are…

Established gallery, 3–15 staff, established programme

Deep, mature feature set; strong CMS integration; the safe institutional choice with a well-known support team.

Recommended: Artlogic

If you are…

Independent gallery or emerging programme wanting modern UX

Free to trial with real work; the same primitives Artlogic offers at a fraction of the cost; no per-seat upgrade traps.

Recommended: Aurelian

If you are…

Cross-category advisor (art + jewelry + watches)

One data model across categories, so a single client record shows every piece placed with them regardless of medium.

Recommended: Aurelian

If you are…

Collector managing a private collection with a family office

Advisor tier includes multi-owner permissions, valuation history, and JSON export — features Archive doesn't offer and Artlogic reserves for enterprise pricing.

Recommended: Aurelian

How-to

Migration playbook

  1. 1

Export from your current platform as CSV

Both Artlogic and Artwork Archive allow full CSV exports of inventory and contacts. Export image URLs alongside — they are the fragile piece.

  2. 2

    Reconcile the schema

Map source columns onto the target schema. Aurelian's importer handles the common Artlogic and Artwork Archive column names automatically.

  3. 3

    Import a 10-row sample first

Never bulk-import a 5,000-row file cold. Import ten representative rows, verify every field, then run the rest.

  4. 4

    Rehydrate images

Signed image URLs from the source platform expire. Either re-upload the originals or re-download them within a short window before the URLs die.

  5. 5

Run both platforms in parallel for 30 days

Enter new pieces into both systems for a month. Cancel the old platform only after a full inventory reconciliation.

Answers

Frequently asked

Is Aurelian a genuine alternative to Artlogic in 2026?

For independent galleries and cross-category dealers, yes. Aurelian ships inventory, consignments, viewing rooms, clienteling, and invoicing on the same primitives Artlogic offers, at a materially lower price point and with a free tier to trial the full workflow first. For blue-chip galleries with existing Artlogic CMS websites and deep third-party integrations, Artlogic remains the safer choice.

How does Artwork Archive compare to Artlogic and Aurelian?

Artwork Archive is a cataloguing tool for individual artists and private collectors — not a gallery workspace. It lacks multi-user role management, a proper consignments UI, and permissioned viewing rooms. Compare it to Artlogic or Aurelian only if you are one person cataloguing your own holdings.

Can I migrate from Artlogic to Aurelian?

Yes. Export your Artlogic inventory and contacts as CSV, then use Aurelian's self-serve importer. Gallery and Advisor tiers include a concierge migration where the Aurelian team maps and cleans the file for you and reconciles image URLs.

What does Aurelian not do yet that Artlogic does?

Aurelian does not yet ship a public gallery website / CMS product (on the roadmap for Q2 2026) or a dedicated art-fair booth planner. Everything else you would use daily — inventory, consignments, viewing rooms, invoicing, provenance — is live.

Which platform is cheapest?

Aurelian's free tier is the lowest starting point. Artwork Archive starts at $8/month for solo use. Artlogic's entry tier is roughly $65/month and scales into the low four figures monthly for larger galleries.

Try before you migrate

Free forever for one user. No card required.

The fastest way to know if Aurelian fits is to import 20 pieces and run a viewing room through it. That's why the free tier exists.
